I decided to create this mempool inspired sculpture in order to utilize the many small pieces of orange honeycomb calcite leftover from my most recent commission. I realized that after sanding and polishing, those pieces would make for perfect "blocks." My largest sculpture to date, this piece stands nearly 32 inches tall. Nearly done on this work, just a bit more polishing and it will be ready for its new home.
Materials: orange honeycomb calcite, polyester resin
I've been slowly chipping away at this over the course of the last year. Carved from reclaimed slate, it is a relief of legendary cypherpunk and early Bitcoiner, Hal Finney. Though it looks close to completion, the devil is in the details, and I have a ways to go in order to get it right.

Currently in the early stages of this sculpture, what is known as "roughing out." It will be a male, upper torso with the hands opening up a cavity in the chest with a Bitcoin symbol where the heart would normally rest.

Too many people allow others to think for them. The shrill cries of "I support the current thing!" ring out across social media. This bust represents my frustration with this worrying trend. I may make this an interactive structure by carving an empty hollow in the back of the head, where viewers can place notes containing their own thoughts and frustrations...

While visiting family in Colorado I had the opportunity to visit Marble, Colorado, the home of Colorado Yule marble, which was used extensively in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. I was able to pick up a beautiful 220 lb. block and I'm currently exploring ideas for an eventual sculpture.
